Public Records Request Policy
OOD, in accordance with Ohio Revised Code(ORC) §149 and other applicable federal, state, and case law, allows prompt inspection of public records during the hours posted below. Upon request, and in accordance with ORC §149, OOD shall make copies of public records available to the requester within a reasonable period of time, at a cost of $.05 per page if the request exceeds 50 pages. Other charges may apply for alternative mediums and for postage costs, if applicable. The OOD Public Record Request policy is available upon request and provides details.
Inspection of public records shall begin no earlier than 8:00 a.m. end no later than 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding state recognized holidays.
Appointments are strongly encouraged to ensure OOD has sufficient time to gather and prepare the records for inspection. Those without a appointment may be asked to return after the records are prepared.
Without exception, OOD requires payment for public record copies prior to their release.
Fees for other distribution means are outlined in the policy.
There is no fee for viewing, faxing, or emailing records.
All original records shall remain in the possession of OOD at all times, and only OOD staff members shall make copies of the record(s).
Please note that records may contain information that must be redacted pursuant to law. OOD will provide an explanation for any redaction at the time of the inspection or at the time the copies are provided.
