Governor DeWine's Proclamation - Invisible Disabilities Week 2021

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted have recognized October 17-23, 2021 as Invisible Disabilities Week.

WHEREAS, about 58.9 million Americans live with a condition that could be considered an invisible disability; and

WHEREAS, the term invisible disabilities is used to describe disabilities that are not readily apparent based on appearance; and

WHEREAS, without the obvious signs of disability, people with invisible disabilities can be accused of faking their conditions; and

WHEREAS, because these disabilities cannot be seen, they are seldom supported; and

WHEREAS, the Invisible Disabilities Association works to encourage, educate, and connect
people and organizations touched by disability; and

WHEREAS, citizens are encouraged to continue the conversation about invisible disabilities online by wearing blue and using #IAmInvisibleNoMore and #InvisibleDisabilitiesWeek; 


NOW, THEREFORE, We, Mike DeWine and Jon Husted, Governor and Lieutenant Governor of the State of Ohio, do hereby designate 

INVISIBLE DISABILITIES WEEK
